Week five?

The weeks are starting to run together. As predicted, my sleep schedule is suffering. I slept without an alarm last night for the first time in a month. Not surprisingly, I slept in.

I take exam number three this week, in anatomy. This exam is different than the others because there is a practical component. The written component is a 30-point multiple choice exam which follows or precedes the practical component, which is a 30-point short answer exam. Essentially we are to write a one-word answer to identify the part of the bone, the muscle, the nerve that innervates the muscle, or the vessel pointed out on the cadaver. We cycle through each cadaver, two at time, peering in and identifying the part that has a red pin or string tied to it. We have about 45 seconds to write our answer before moving on. There are also light boxes with x-rays to identify important structures, and bone models to test with. We'll see how much information my brain can retain. I'm hoping I'll surprise myself. In the end, though, I'm sure those brain cells will succumb to the wonderful aroma of preservative filtering through my nasal passages. Guess it's better than formaldehyde.
